Surrey Women host the Blaze in the latest round of Metro Bank One Day Cup fixtures in Beckenham. Surrey has had a disappointing season so far with only two wins in six games. On the other hand, the 2024 Charlotte Edwards T20 Cup champions Blaze are one of the teams to beat with four wins in six matches.
The Blaze, despite their high standing on the points table, are coming off a loss to Lancashire. They face a stern test against Surrey, whose top-order was in pristine form in their last ODD Cup outing.
As the competition passes the half-way mark, both teams are eyeing a crucial win with the Sixer traders also following suit. Given that this game is LiveTrade eligible, the stakes are even higher. Here are is a Sixer fantasy preview and possible playing XIs for this much-awaited clash.
Surrey Women have some injury concerns with Bryony Smith and Alice Monaghan being unavailable for this game. Kira Chathli is expected to lead a rather strong side with the onus on English internationals Danielle Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley to take on the responsibility of filling Bryony Smith's void at the top of the order. Emma Jones is set to play at Bryony's expense while Amy Hunter could be in for a spot as well.
Possible Playing XI: D Wyatt-Hodge, K Chathli (c), A Capsey, S Dunkley, P Scholfield, E Jones, A Davidson-Richards, R McDonald-Gay, A Hunter, D Gregory and A Stonehouse.
Maddy Green has signed with the Blaze and will make her season debut on Wednesday. She is likely to slot in as a batting allrounder in the middle order alongside the Bryce sisters. Sarah Glenn is unavailable for the Blaze, meaning more responsibility on captain Kirstie Gordon's shoulders in the spin department. One of Michaela Kirk or Cassie McCarthy should feature in the playing XI.
Possible Playing XI: T Beaumont, A Jones, K Bryce, S Bryce, M Green, G Elwiss, E Claridge, M Kirk, K Gordon (c), J Groves and C Phillips.
Kathryn Bryce (Blaze): Kathryn Bryce has had a topsy-turvy campaign with two fifties to start the campaign, only to follow them with a string of low scores. She has made up for them with her bowling, having picked nine wickets in six games this season. However, she has proved to be slightly expensive with the ball of late. With her form not oozing confidence at the moment, Bryce at her current Sixer price of 6.83 could be worth a look on either side of the trade!
Emma Jones (Surrey-W): Emma Jones is back for the Brown Caps, having given the chance to replace the big shoes of Bryony Smith. Emma is a highly-rated talent with a couple of England A caps to her credit. Her last ODD outing was in the League 2 division, where she scored 147 runs and picked three wickets. With Jones likely to play a role with bat and ball against the Blaze, she is one to watch out for.
Sarah Bryce (Blaze): Where Kathryn is, Sarah follows! We couldn't leave wicket-keeper Sarah Bryce out of this list given her peculiar case as an adept UP and DOWN stock potential. On one hand, Sarah Bryce's numbers and experience speaks for themselves. But on the other hand, Bryce comes into this game on the back of scores of 0, 8 and 1. The pitch, however, is expected to be a good one to bat on, which could boost her potential to succeed. But which direction's the best? Only time will tell.
Kira Chathli (Surrey Women): Last but not least is Surrey captain Kira Chathli. The right-hand batter has had her moments in this tournament despite batting lower down the order. But with Bryony Smith not being available, Chathli could slot in as the opener and amplify her stock potential. With the pitch likely to host a high-scoring game, leverage the all-new LiveTrade feature on Sixer to make an informed decision on Chathli, who at 4.86 INR per stock is a steal if she were to open the batting.
