Who is Finn Allen?Unless you've been hiding under a rock over the last year or so, Finn Allen is one of the brightest young talents in the New Zealand circuit. He is an explosive opener in the mould of Tom Banton, who relies on his aggressive instincts to take over in the powerplay overs.Part of the U-19 set-up initially, Finn Allen had gone on to feature for New Zealand in the T20I format and has experience playing in the T20 Blast and the Hundred as well. He even earned an IPL contract with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, although he may have to wait till the next IPL to make his IPL debut.As previously mentioned, he is a powerplay specialist and is known for his fast starts at the top of the order. However, he also has an eye for a big score, which holds him in good stead. But what is the fuss around him, you may ask.A Bright Start To The Youngster's Career Already!In 2021, Finn Allen has already played T20 cricket for Wellington, Lancashire and New Zealand. Not to mention, he was part of the inaugural Hundred season with runners-up Birmingham Phoenix.The Kiwi batter has shown his class and potential across varied conditions and bowling attacks. In the Super Smash last season, Allen was one of the stars of the show as Wellington went all the way. Alongside Devon Conway, Allen scored 512 runs at a blistering strike-rate of 193.94 - absolute gold dust in this format.But that's not all! Allen, who was picked up by the Lancashire Cricket Club, didn't disappoint in the T20 Blast as well. Covering up for Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone, both of whom were occupied with national duty, Allen forged a decent partnership with Keaton Jennings at the top of the order.He scored 333 runs in 12 matches with an impressive strike-rate of 150. Considering that it was his first overseas assignment and the nature of the pitch at Old Trafford, often on the slower side, Allen didn't disappoint! The same can be said of his Hundred performances as he scored 165 runs at a strike-rate of 150!With New Zealand looking to build towards the next T20 World Cup, Finn Allen is surely one to watch out for. Although Daryl Mitchell was impressive in the T20 World Cup in UAE, he doesn't promise the same explosiveness and effectiveness as young Allen. In addition, the pitches should suit the youngster, who can form a devastating partnership alongside a like-minded Martin Guptill.
